Analysing film posters - Twilight

Title
The title of this film is Twilight. This is immediately clear to the audience because it is in white lettering on a black background and is in bold italic like font. It has been put at the bottom of the page so that it doesn't block the picture of the two actors. This is separated from the picture a little as well to give it more effect and make it stand out more from the darkness. The title gives nothing away to what is in the film which adds suspense to what the films about. The fact that its written in italics makes it look more magical because this film is based on magic and vampires.

Mise en Scene
In this poster you can see two actors looking at each other which gives the sense that they know each other but it makes the audience curious about how and whats going to happen. The actress on the left (Bella) is looking at the apple that she is holding in her hand which is a sign of pureness because of the apple in the Adam and Eve story.  On the other side however there is a rather shady looking character who i staring at her which could make the audience believe that that man is trying to make the actress impure. The moon is very well places in between them because it creates space and also is a very vital part of the film. This is because the film is about vampires and werewolves which only appear at night and on a full moon. This could get lots of people asking questions and wondering what will happen in the film. The actor is also wearing dark clothes which symbolise darkness and evil.
Release date
The release date for this film is December 12th. It isn't very clear to the audience straight away because it is in very small font and at the bottom of the poster however it still stands out a little because it is in white text on a black background. Looking at this poster as a whole i wouldn't notice the release date unless i looked very closely which isn't a good thing because it may cause people to not see it due to not knowing the release date. The release date however has been chosen very well because it is being released just before the Christmas holidays when their target audience 14-18 year olds would be on their holidays so they would all go to the cinema to see this film. This will increase sales for the film and bring in lots of money
Actors Name
The actors names are in very small print at the top of the page. Although they stand out because they are written in white writing on a black background it still isn't very effective because some people might not know who the actors are and can't see straight away who they are so might chose not to see the film because there is nobody famous in it. The position of the names however aren't well placed because the names will not get noticed as the top of the page is empty and the font is to small to read.
