Analysing film posters - Mr Poppers Penguins

Title
The title of this film is Mr Popper's Penguins. This is immediately clear to the audience because it is in bright blue lettering on a white background and is in bold font. This is separated from the picture to give it more effect and make it stand out more. The 'i' in penguins has been dotted with a penguins head to continue the theme of the film in the title. The word penguins is in a bolder font that Mr Poppers because the penguins are the main characters in the film and the storyline is based around them.
Mise en Scene
In this poster the main picture is of Jim Carrey who plays Mr Popper in this film. Around him are 6 penguins who all seem to be very close and affectionate with him. This picture automatically gives the idea that this film is something to do with this man and some penguins. The fact that not many posters have animals in them makes this unique and also very eye catching because it is also on a white background which makes everything else stand out more. Jim Carreys costume in this picture which is a suit and bow tie has been done to make him look like a penguin himself because of the black and white colours. Also this could mean that these penguins are interrupting a big event that he is meant to be attending which could lead the audience to want to go and see the film.
Release date
The release date for this film is June 27th. This isn't very clear to the audience straight away because it is in very small font and in the bottom corner of the screen. The fact that it is in white writing also doesn't make it stand out very much because it is next to a white background and the white shirt that Jim Carrey is wearing. Looking at this poster as a whole i wouldn't notice the release date unless i looked very closely which isn't a good thing because it may cause people to not see it due to not knowing the release date. The release date however has been chosen very well because it is being released in the summer when their target audience (10-16) year olds would be on summer holidays so they would all go to the cinema to see this film. This will increase sales for the film and bring in lots of money.
Actors Name
Jim Carrey is such a well know actor that his name doesn't need to be very big on the poster. He is recognised worldwide for doing such films as 'A series of unfortunate events' and 'Bruce Almighty' both very funny films. His name on the poster however is still noticeable due to it being above the title and in black writing on a white background. The audience will see this straight away because they will automatically be drawn to the title of the film and therefore will see the actor who is in it just above. I think the positioning of the name is very good because if the actors name was at the bottom and in small writing then it wouldn't be as obvious who was in the film if the actor wasn't as famous.
